This week, Venezuela is hosting the Pan-American Mountain Bike Championships in the very, very hilly town of San Juan de los Morros. Cyclists from all over Latin America, the U.S., and Canada will be there to test their skills.
The Venezuelan cycling team is currently the top-ranked team in the UCI America Tour, the regional circuit for elite riders.
Leading the pack this season is Manuel Medina Marino, the Venezuelan rider called “El Gato” — the cat — for his speed and agility. In the picture here, the top rider in the Americas emerges victorious at the Tour of Táchira state in January.
The races in San Juan de los Morros kick off today. To find out more about this unique part of Venezuela, visit our travel section.
